The Instructional Designer will work with the Viega Training team to design, develop, and implement the best e-learning solutions including educational videos, self-guided learning, and other online educational content to support learning through Viega Trades Education Network (VTEN) and Viega On-Line Training (VOLT) platforms. The designer will align practice exercises, activities, and assessments to ensure that learners receive targeted and timely feedback on goal-directed learning opportunities. They will also work with the training team and product management Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop learning objectives, conduct needs assessments, and design courses/programs.  

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

• Serves as course developer, team player and change agent for the utilization and growth of the Learning Management System and supports the use of best practices in course delivery for the VTEN and VOLT programs.  

• Provide consultation and assistance on issues relating to training structures, deployment/registration of self-serve training for VTEN and VOLT. Consults with Trainers and SMEs about course content, user interface, and how to access training in the LMS.  

• Work collaboratively with the Training team and subject matter experts to develop learning objectives, conduct needs assessments and design programs. Develop appropriate assessments for web-based training modules and learning paths including course creation from storyboard to publication.  

• Interface with external instructional technology and LMS vendors and agencies as they relate to sustaining and improving our LMS capabilities for VTEN and VOLT information management needs.  

• Provide direct assistance regarding LMS utilization, problem resolution, testing, and optimization. Works directly with trainers and management to facilitate the adoption of instructional technologies via the LMS.  

• Performs analysis and testing of the LMS, drives fast bug-resolution and feature requests on for the LMS. Helps provide leadership and knowledge toward the continual evolution of learning management systems and online learning solutions available to all trainers, VTEN locations, and VOLT participants.  

• Develops and implements processes and controls for the provision of end-user support and training related to VTEN and VOLT modules.  

• Extensive knowledge about SCORM and API requirements as related to LMS content.  

• Proficiency in the configuration, implementation, and administration of desktop eLearning to mobile learning platforms.  

• Ability to take existing technical content and convert into online learning modules with the assistance of SMEs.  

• Provides registration, progress tracking, and scores of VOLT on a monthly basis.  

• Extracts and tracks data and metrics for LMS usage, VOLT attendance, trends in popularity of various courses, un-popular courses, and feedback surveys from VOLT content to assure maximization of VOLT.  

• Works with Manager, Training team, and collected LMS/VOLT metrics to establish direction on VOLT content. Seeks input from cross-functional teams such as trainers, product management, codes & standards, marketing, and legal regarding final content.

• Collaborate with the training team to develop content for video tutorials.  

• Incorporate review feedback from SMEs and other members of the training team when creating videos and online lessons.  

• Contribute to a blended learning approach with a focus on adult learning theory and continuous learning.

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field (Preferred)  

• Experience developing custom learning solutions for diverse target audiences (Required)  

• Experience in developing video tutorials (Required)  

• Knowledge with multiple e-learning development tools (e.g. Camtasia, Flash, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suites, Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and/or Lectora)  

• Knowledge of Cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS) (Preferred)  

• Microsoft Office suite (Preferred)  

o AND  

• 2 years of related experience   

• OR  

• 6 years of related experience
