Your Role: What you'll be doing
  • Establish the basic structure of the ground software system
  • Develop and communicate the vision and roadmap for the software system architecture and capabilities
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for the ground software system
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Educate and mentor junior engineers in software development practices and skills through 1-on-1 coaching, documentation, and design & architecture discussions.
  • Evolve and Improve Software and Software practices for a more testable and maintainable code base.

Your Background: What education and experience you'll need
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 8-12 years of experience; advanced degrees are typically preferred at this level.

Your Background: What skills you'll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Experience with designing cross-platform systems
  • Expertise in object-oriented languages and associated package ecosystems
  • Expertize in C++ development
  • Experience with Unix-based operating systems
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management practices and tools such as Git (preferred), SVN, or Perforce
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Real Time Operating Systems like RTEMS, RTLinux, QNX, LynxOS, etc.
    • Communication protocols, including Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, Serial
    • Modern web application development and tech stack, including REST APIs
    • Microservices architecture
    • Developing device drivers
    • Hardware - software integration
