IT NETWORK CONTROL TECHNICIAN

Primary purpose for IT Network Control Tech:
Monitors and maintains the company's network systems. Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and make improvements to the network. May require an associate degree in a related area. Directs and leads the work of others. Typically reports to a manager. Typically requires 1 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
oProvide input on upgrades or changes for the IT monitoring software and hardware.
oThis position is responsible for identifying, isolating, and repairing network, telecommunication and customer troubles related to network and telecommunication services and associated equipment.
oMonitor and maintain the integrity of Tallgrass’ systems include and may not be limited to 3g/4g modems, Industrial Wireless Systems, SCADA Communication Systems, Office Phone Systems, Digital Multiplex, Office Networks (Frame-Relay, VSAT, DSL), VHF Radio Systems, and associated equipment.
oGenerating and managing tickets for all issues; escalating to appropriate resources when necessary.
oDirecting, coordinating and partnering with various internal and external individuals in the execution of daily tasks and resolution of issues.
oAssist in implementing and maintaining system management and monitoring tools.
oProvide backup support to the IT Customer Support team.
oConfiguring VoIP phone system; assisting users of the functions of the phone and voicemail setup.
o Create and maintain internal articles and/or documentation including IT Operation Center (ITOC) processes and procedures.
oAssist in the training and support for IT Network Control Technician I and II.
oFollow all system change control procedures.
oOther duties include working with the application team and software vendors to address related issues and application upgrade activities.
oRegularly work under deadlines.
oUtilize software and hardware tools (including but not limited to SolarWinds, Cisco, Juniper) to identify, diagnose and drive resolution of problems and factors affecting network integrity.
oDeal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
oSpeak clearly in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
oMaintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
oWork non-traditional hours as needed.
oMaintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
oOther daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.
oOther duties as assigned.
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in IT or a related discipline.
•A minimum of four (4) years direct work experience or an associate degree and a minimum of two (2) years direct work experience in IT or a related discipline may be considered as a substitute for a degree
oGeneral level of desktop support experience with advanced knowledge of standard networking, IT security and IT hardware concepts.
oFull understanding of the OSI Layers Network Model & IP Networking
oFamiliar with network monitoring tools and their application.
oMust be customer service oriented.
oThe analytical thinker can utilize a functional understanding of the various components of systems in conjunction with technical knowledge to identify effective and efficient problem resolutions.
oExcellent organizational, time management, presentation, and communication skills; must communicate effectively with all levels of company personnel.
oAbility to work well both individually with minimal supervision and in a team environment where the sharing of knowledge is highly regarded and expected.
oAbility to multitask effectively and meet deadlines.
oAdvanced knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office 365 applications that may include but are not limited to Visio, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Skype for Business and Outlook.
oGood interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate systems requirements verbally and in writing.
oExperience in effectively communicating business and technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
oUse time effectively and efficiently.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
oMust possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

oClimb a fixed ladder no greater than 20’ with the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), i.e., fall protection is required to climb and work. If a portable ladder is used, fall protection is not required to climb but would be required if installing equipment once climbing to the top.
oTravel as needed
oNon-traditional hours anticipated.
oMust be able to work in a 24X7 shift environment with flexibility to work diverse schedules.
oRequired to carry an activated cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
oThe successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen, and a complete background check, including a credit report for certain positions after an offer, has been extended and before being employed.
