Job Description


The Staff Accountant II performs a variety of accounting activities in accordance with general accepted accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and reporting requirements.  Executes monthly close for 4-5 individual business lines within the OmniTRAX organization; identifies process improvements to ensure more efficient and effective performance of accounting functions.

  • Perform general accounting activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles: calculate, prepare and enter various month-end closing entries, maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, account reconciliations, account analysis and coordinate coding of invoices
  • Ensure the integrity of financial information in general ledger
  • Produce compelling and insightful reports to illustrate performance
  • Prepare audit work papers
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Collaborate with others team members and accounting manager to establish best-practices for the department
  • Evaluate and identify accounting processes for continuous improvement: recommend solutions and processes for efficiency


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 2 years’ related experience
  • Build strong relationships with both internal and external business partners
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • High attention to detail; produce accurate work
  • Prioritize work and multi-task effectively to meet deadlines and business objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively converse with all levels of the company, customers and business associates
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills (Data Filters; Data Sorting; Pivot Tables; and advanced functions such as IF, SUMIF/SUMIFS, COUNTIF/COUNTIFS, VLOOKUP)
  • Professional integrity and accountability
  • Work in fast-paced collaborative environment



  • Previous experience in Rail Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing and/or Oil and Gas industries
  • CPA or CPA Candidate 
  • MBA
  • Netsuite experience or other large ERP software
