    JOB TITLE: Network Engineer/Network Security Engineer
    LOCATION: Technology
    PAY RANGE: E0-8

    SUMMARY: The Network Engineer/Network Security Engineer will be part of the Information Technology team with Mapleton Public Schools. This position will be responsible for the district wired and wireless networks including network design, optimization, implementation, auditing and troubleshooting. This position will ensure district networks are designed and operating to meet the needs of the district. In addition to network configuration, this position will evaluate and recommend changes to the district network to ensure the security of the network. This position will also be responsible for network configurations and design as well as network and systems security.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    1. Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current wired and wireless networks
    2. Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
    3. Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
    4. Testing for and resolving vulnerabilities in hardware and software
    5. Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
    6. Maintaining virtual private networks, firewalls, email security and web protocols, security and programs
    7. Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
    8. Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
    9. Developing tracking scripts to record system vulnerabilities
    10. Reporting security analysis findings
    11. Create and maintain security policies
    12. Develop authentication and authorization protocols
    13. Arranging scheduled upgrades
    14. Investigate and resolve faults in the network
    15. Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
    16. Reporting network status to key stakeholders

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field or equivalent experience. Should have at least 3 years of experience with network management and security. Should have 2 years' experience designing and manipulating new and existing networks used for data and voice communication. Experience implementing and redesigning networks with both Cisco and Aruba networking equipment preferred. Must have a total understanding of networking – VPN, VLANS, etc.

    MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
    • Advanced operating knowledge and proficiency operating and troubleshooting networks, servers and telecommunications equipment.
    • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, dust and other nuisances. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasionally handles emergency crisis situation; frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    1. Twelve (12) month position (260 days)
