Lockheed Martin's Coherent Technologies group in Louisville, CO, is seeking an Electro-Optical Engineer intern to join our exceptional team this summer.

What does this role look like?

You will perform the design, development, assembly and testing of laser, electro-optic, lidar/ladar, and optical remote sensing systems. Your projects will involve multiple phases of technology development, including applied research, proof-of-concept demonstration, field testing, development, maturation, and production of advanced electro-optical systems. Some day to day responsibilities in this role will include:
• Assembling and testing electro-optical systems, assemblies, and components.
• Assisting in the design and development of prototype lasers and laser-based remote sensing systems.
• Analyzing laboratory data and contributing to reports, conference presentations, and journal articles.
• Preparing parts specifications, evaluating vendor offerings, and procuring parts and subassemblies.
• Taking responsibility for the development and reporting on a hardware sub-assembly or program sub-task.
• Preparing contributions for technical reports and project status reports.
• Occasionally assisting in conducting field tests, including at remote sites, potentially for prolonged periods.

We are looking for someone who can collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary technical teams to create and mature advanced technical solutions. You will be skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, internal and external customers, suppliers, and other key partners. Our new colleague should possess proven written and oral communication skills and is an enthusiastic, self-motivated team-player.

Basic Qualifications
Currently be pursuing or have completed a bachelors or masters in a relevant degree (physics, engineering etc.)

This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.

Desired skills
Knowledge or desire to learn about electro optics to include free space optics, fiber optics, optical modulators, laser resonators, photonics, laser beam formatting and control, etc.
