    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    To add to our team of talented people, we are currently seeking a Corporate Counsel, Intellectual Property. Responsibilities include managing DISH’s world-wide patent portfolio, original prosecution of strategic patent applications, analysis of licensing requests, managing trademarks and support of IP litigation. The Corporate Counsel will also identify and advise the business on potential intellectual property issues.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Manage outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications;
    • Engage in prosecution of strategic patent applications;
    • Analyze, provide recommendations for and negotiate patent licensing opportunities;
    • Assist in managing patent litigations;
    • Engage in patent harvesting efforts;
    • Draft IP licenses; and
    • Counsel business units on all aspects of IP.

    The candidate should have the following:

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science;
    • J.D. degree with strong academic credentials from an accredited law school;
    • 3+ years of IP experience at a major law firm, boutique IP firm or corporation, including drafting and prosecution of at least 30 original U.S. patent applications;
    • Solid understanding of patent, trademark and copyright laws;
    • Demonstrated project management capability; and
    • Admission to practice as a patent attorney before the USPTO;
    • Admission to the Colorado Bar, or the ability to become admitted promptly under Rule 222 of the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure (Single-Client Counsel).
