Job Description

Overall Job Objective

Description

Responsible for the instruction and promotion of various activities and classes. The incumbent operates within a class-room type environment.

Pay: $15.86 per hour

Schedule: Various days and times: Monday-Sunday 8a-4p, & 5:30-9:30p 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:

Develop and teach class content appropriate to the course description and level; develop appropriate tools necessary to offer quality; provide feedback to class participants and proper instruction in use of support materials. Monitor participants and their ability to participate; monitor attire to properly perform, i.e., shoes, etc., if applicable.

Provide a safe environment for all participants; enforce all general building policies if applicable; complete any necessary reports and forms, i.e., Accident Reports, Health Forms, Attendance Records, Supply Requests, etc. Attend scheduled meetings as required; responsible for finding a dependable, appropriate substitute upon their absence.

Responsible for preparation for program activities; prepare lesson plans, organize relative equipment; may be required to set-up and break-down materials used for instruction. Perform related work as required and assigned.

Work is performed in accordance with standard practice and methods requiring initiative to complete recurring assignments independently and judgment to determine which of many methods are applicable in any given situation. Finished work is reviewed for accuracy, quality and completeness. Unfamiliar situations are referred to the supervisor.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge: Principles of assigned program; equipment and facilities used; of necessary safety requirements and procedures; of public relations techniques; working knowledge and understanding of public relation skills and techniques.

Skills: Public relations; in operation of necessary equipment; must be versatile in all developmental stages, if appropriate to assigned program.

Abilities: Plan, organize, instruct, supervise assigned program; control large groups of people; follow instructions; remain current on the trends of the industry; communicate effectively; analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper courses of action to be taken; work with little or no supervision; analyze and correct facility safety hazards; learn and adhere to the facility emergency procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships.

EVIDENCE OF QUALIFICATIONS:
Training
– None necessary.

Experience - Previous instructional experience preferred

Supplemental Information

Therapeutic Swimming – In addition to the above training and experience, must possess WSI Certification or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
Sign Language Interpreter:  Must have a current Interpreter Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as RID or NAD.

American Red Cross Infant/Child/Adult CPR, AED and First Aid certifications are required within 45 days of hire.
