Overall Job Objective


The City of Littleton is looking for a temporary Building Attendant to help keep our city buildings cleaned and sanitized. The Building Attendant will routinely and regularly clean, disinfect and sanitize surfaces inside city buildings including the Littleton Center and the Littleton Municipal Courthouse. This position is responsible for frequent wiping and sanitizing of all high touch areas throughout the buildings including restrooms, glass doors, door hardware, plexi barriers, counters, light switches etc. The work will require the use of sanitizing wipes and disinfectant chemicals. Necessary PPE will be provided and required.

Starting pay at or near $15.72 per hour

Work Schedule:  7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Routinely and regularly cleans all high touch areas throughout assigned facility/area using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), rags, chemical disinfectants and sanitizing wipes.
    • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and entry doors hourly.
    • Cleans and sanitizes meeting rooms/areas after each use.
    • Cleans and sanitizes all other areas daily.
  • Monitors and replenishes hand sanitizer dispensers and supplies at health stations and throughout building as needed.
  • Additional related duties may be assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent, and
  • A valid driver's License, and
  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience as a building custodian, or
  • An equivalent combination of formal education, training, and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the essential duties/responsibilities of the position.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, drug screen and physical.

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of cleaning commercial buildings.
  • Ability to operate push and hand brooms, electric vacuums and buffers, prepare and apply cleaning solutions and waxes, remove dirt, grease, dust, and fingerprints from surfaces.
  • Knowledge and ability to properly mix cleaning solutions according to manufacturer’s instructions.

  • The work is performed mostly indoors and may include the following buildings: Littleton Center, Courthouse, Police Neighborhood Liaison Offices (NLO), Bemis Library, Littleton Museum and the Belleview Service Center.    
  • Long periods of standing or walking may be required.
  • Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 70 pounds with or without assistance; climbing stools and ladders to clean windows, walls, or change light bulbs; kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, and handling to perform essential duties.
  • Work environment includes exposure to noise from vacuums and buffers; odors from cleaning solutions; dust, dirt, grease, water, and chemical compounds.
  • Personal Protection Equipment is mandatory while performing hazardous duties.
