Participate in the election process, get to know your community, and get paid!

Election Worker:

  • To serve as an Election Worker you must be registered to vote in Colorado, and not convicted of any election related offense.
  • You do not have to be registered in Adams County to work for us.
  • Family members of candidates appearing on the ballot may not serve as election workers.
  • All Temporary Election Workers are paid $15.00 per hour, including training.
Student Election Workers:
  • Even before you turn 18 and are eligible to vote, you can take part in the election process by serving as a student election worker.
  • Certification forms for student election workers must be completed by the school you attend and your parent/guardian.

You must commit to full period of time and extended hours as needed. Working date range is specified with the position description below.

In the Community - Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC)
(Various locations around Adams County)
  • Primary Election (6/30/20):
    • Training between May 26 - June 19, VSPC open June 22 - June 30
  • General Election (11/3/20):
    • Training between September 14 - October 16
    • 1st wave of VSPC sites open, October 19 - November 3
    • 2nd wave of VSPC sites open, October 26 - November 3
    • 3rd wave of VSPC sites open, November 2 - 3

Qualifications for Success

Available VSPC Positions:

  • VSPC Supervisor
    • (Computer Skill Level 3 - Computer literacy test required if new)
    • Leadership qualities
    • Oversees all aspects of the VSPC set-up, processes and takedown
    • Assists with Election Watchers and any other VSPC guests
    • Fills in for other positions during breaks and lunches
    • Able to work 14+ hours Election Day
    • Attend a Supervisor class, Computer class, and a Simulation training
  • VSPC Troubleshooter
    • (Computer Skill Level 3 - Computer literacy test required if new)
    • Leadership qualities
    • Oversees all aspects of the VSPC set-up, processes and takedown
    • Assists with Election Watchers and any other VSPC guests
    • Fills in for other positions during breaks and lunches
    • Able to work 14+ hours Election Day
    • Attend a Supervisor class, Computer class, and a Simulation training
  • VSPC Computer Processor
    • (Computer Skill Level 3 - Computer literacy test required if new)
    • Leadership qualities

In the Elections Office (Brighton, CO) - Ballot Processing Operations
Working dates/time can vary based on ballot return rates. 
Training is provided on your first working day. 
  • Primary Election (6/30/20): approx. June 16 - July 1
  • General Election (11/3/20): approx. October 20 - November 4
 
Available Ballot Processing Operations Positions:
  • Ballot Security Team (Driving)
    • (Computer Skill Level 1 - Minimal)
    • Transport and track ballot boxes to and from VSPCs
    • Pick up mail ballots from the 24-hour Drop Boxes
    • Deliver supplies to VSPCs, as needed
    • Valid driver license required, county vehicle provided
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs/stand for extended periods of time/ability to get in and out of vehicles routinely
  • Mail Ballot Receiving - Warehouse
    • (No computer skills required)
    • Receive mail ballots that were picked up by the Ballot Security Team and from the post office
    • Verify seals, open ballot transport bags, sort ballots into mail trays
    • Ability to lift 25 lbs
    • Heavy turning/twisting movements
    • Must have good hand-eye coordination
    • Basic math and organizational skills
    • Heavy repetitive hand wrist and arm motions
  • Agilis Assistant - Warehouse
    • (No computer skills required)
    • Operate incoming envelope sorting equipment
    • Ability to spend a long time on your feet
    • Ability to lift 25 lbs
    • Heavy turning/twisting movements
    • Must have good hand-eye coordination
    • Basic math and organizational skills
    • Heavy repetitive hand wrist and arm motions
  • Signature Verification - Tier 1
    • (Computer Skill Level 2 - Basic)
    • Ballot volume received dictates the number of hours worked
    • Verify voter signatures on mail ballot envelopes
    • Must have basic computer skills
    • Party affiliation required (Democrat or Republican)
    • Able to work 14+ hours Election Day
    • Sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time

    • Research challenged voter signatures from mail ballot envelopes

  • Opex Operator - Warehouse
    • (Computer Skill Level 1 - Minimal)
    • Operate mail ballot opening equipment, removing ballots from envelopes
    • Must have basic computer skills
    • Must have good hand-eye coordination
    • Able to work 14+ hours Election Day
    • Sitting for long periods of time doing repetitive movement
  • Ballot Prep (previously called Ballot Removal)
    • (No Computer skills required)
    • Physical separation of mail ballot packets
