JOB TITLE: SUB Pottery Instructor
DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation

SALARY RANGE: $9.00 to $17.00 per hour
HIRING RATE: $9.00 per hour
POSITION TYPE: SUBSTITUTE, as needed.
CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled

SUMMARY
Responsible for instructing Art/Crafts/Pottery classes to adults and/or youth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist with developing new programs and classes. Prepare course descriptions. Make recommendations and assist with purchasing and managing of class supplies.

Must exercise safety awareness and practices.

Performs equipment maintenance and cleaning. Duties include set-up and take down of equipment pertaining to class.

Follows and enforces all department policies, rules, and regulations while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude.

Other duties may be assigned.

Skills / Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Any combination of education, experience, or specialized training that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for excellent job performance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The working environment is primarily in an indoor setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
