PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the cleaning, maintenance, repair, alteration and construction of County buildings and facilities.
Note: This position requires night and weekend shift work, as well as extended work weeks during the annual Adams County Fair and Rodeo.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
* Maintain and repair County facilities, equipment and buildings by performing a variety of semi-skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, plastering, welding, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and mechanical repair work.
* Perform minor plumbing repair work; repair sinks, toilets, faucets and pipes; clear obstructions from water and sewer lines.
* Perform minor electrical work; repair switches, panels, wiring and related items; maintain lighting system in buildings, parking lots, and water towers.
* Operate and maintain a variety of mechanical tools and equipment including power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, paint sprayers, sewer augers, and various hand tools required for carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance work.
* Perform a variety of cleaning duties including dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors.
* Clean, maintain, and sanitize kitchens and restrooms; stock restrooms with necessary supplies.
* Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs.
* Assist with the proper execution of contracted events. Identify equipment needs for each assigned project.
* Perform winterizing maintenance in facilities; remove snow.
* Deliver excellent customer service to clients and patrons of the Regional Park. Participate in the remodeling of facilities and construction projects; perform carpentry work including the installation, remodeling and repairing of furniture, cabinets, fences, partitions, walls, windows, doors and other basic carpentry work.
* Assist in setting up facilities for special events; move panels, stages, tables, chairs and sound systems; clean up after events including cleaning barns; secure facilities.
* Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Skills / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
* Experience - Two years experience in building cleaning, general maintenance and repair activities. Proficiency in various equipment and hand tool operation preferred.
* Training - High school diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by additional training in electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
* License or Certificate- Candidates must possess the ability to obtain a valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License within nine months of hire. Candidates selected for interviews will need to provide a current copy of their motor vehicle record. Adams County is required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations to conduct pre-employment drug screens, background checks and motor vehicle record checks. Successful candidates must pass all of the above, including a DOT physical and a criminal background check.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:
* Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 50 pounds; exposure to noise, outdoors, confining work space, electrical hazards, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards.
* Availability for on-call and stand-by call.
* This position requires night and weekend shift work, as well as extended work weeks during the annual Adams County Fair and Rodeo.
DAYS/HOURS: Sunday - Thursday, 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. This position requires a varied work schedule. Night and weekend shift work will be required, as necessary.
