AlloSource is currently seeking a Microbiologist to join our outstanding team.
Position Summary:
Independently provides complete technical laboratory services in support of processing activities including environmental monitoring, microbiological evaluation and identification, chemical analysis, donor chart review, reporting review, and analysis of product for compliance and release. Independently performs research/scientific/technical related projects or experiments.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
* Perform all elements of the Environmental Monitoring Program which includes sampling of non-viable & viable air, personnel monitoring, settle plates, touch plates, swabs, water & special testing. Perform microbial evaluation according to established procedures using appropriate laboratory techniques for accurate microorganism identification and interpretation of results. Participation in appropriate quality control procedures and proper documentation to comply with regulatory agencies. Participate in CLIA proficiency testing. Apply comprehensive knowledge of FDA, CLIA and International regulations relevant to work assignments.
* Perform Microbiological Research: Assist in the development, evaluation and review of policies, procedures and methodologies for the laboratory in order to maintain compliance with accreditation. Perform specialty testing and research validation. Performs accurate data entry into notebooks or computer databases. Interprets and analyzes scientific data into product reports and summaries. Develops and validates analytical techniques, written procedures, standard protocols to support research, scientific or technical-related disciplines. Participates in project leadership responsibilities such as report writing, planning, scheduling and cost control.
* Perform microbiological review of donor charts for tissue disposition.
Skills / Requirements
Education/ Formal Training Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology or related scientific discipline.
Job and Industry Experience Required:
* 2 years practical microbiology experience.
Job and Industry Experience Preferred:
* FDA & CLIA regulated
* Experience in tissue banking
* FDA/ISO/CLIA audit experience
