Job: Desktop Support Technician

We are currently hiring for an experienced and motivated Desktop Support Technician with networking knowledge.

General Purpose:
Dealing with a broad range of equipment, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair hardware and software problems. Perform preventative maintenance on installed equipment, install add on components, set up and configure new systems, and provide advice to end users on hardware and systems software issues.


Primary Responsibilities:

Identify and resolve user problems and concerns associated with all IT applications, computer equipment, hardware, and software

Serve as liaison between staff and upper-level IT Department personnel

Plan and coordinate the installation of desktops and peripheral equipment for users

Clean, modify and repair computer hardware

Build desktops when necessary

Configure printers

Administer monthly patches and software updates using WSUS or similar software

Inventory and asset tracking on computers and equipment.

Clearly document ongoing support issues

Work one-on-one with management on projects

Other duties as assigned

Must be able to carry and transport up to 50 pounds

Education and Training:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associates Degree in computer science or related field preferred or a corresponding number of years experience in IT
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems
- Certified A+ or MCP or equivalent preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Proficient with Window Server 2003, 2008, Windows XP, Vista operating systems.
- Familiarity SQL Server, ODBC database application
- Proficient in WSUS or similar patch deployment software
- Proficient in basic networking protocols and standards
- Proficient in Imaging computers
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment, yet autonomously with self-motivation, including keeping forward momentum on projects and working with team members to achieve a common goal
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work off hours if needed
- Valid driver’s license and insurance
