JOB TITLE: Pro Shop/Merchandise Coordinator/Golf Professional
DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation – Fossil Trace Golf Club JOB REFERENCE: 09-50 SALARY RANGE: $9.00 to $17.00 per hour HIRING RANGE: $12.00 per hour / plus lessons POSITION TYPE: Part-time, non-exempt, 32-40 hours per week. CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled A City of Golden application must be submitted for employment consideration. SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Head Golf Professional is primarily responsible for coordination, selection, purchase and management of golf shop merchandise. Completes administrative tasks as required by the professional staff. May be responsible for supervising specific parts of the golf operation including but not limited to Pro Shop personnel, Player Assistants, Driving Range and Cart Attendants. Secondary responsibilities may include teaching private, junior and group lessons, clinics and schools. Will be required to work varied shift assignments including early morning, evening, weekend and holiday shifts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Primary Responsibilities – Merchandise Coordination Responsible for the selection, purchase, receipt, ticketing, display, inventory and accounting procedures for all golf shop merchandise. Works directly with the point of sale (POS) system to ensure adequate stock of merchandise reordering or putting on sale appropriately, minimization of inventory shrinkage, and accuracy of sales. Receives and tracks merchandise inventory. Processes golf course invoices in accordance with City financial procedures and policies. Provides direct sales and training techniques to golf shop staff to facilitate increased sales. Serves as trainer for new pro shop staff as requested. Contacts event coordinators to aggressively promote merchandise sales for their event. Responsible for general administrative tasks in support of the golf professional staff. Coordinates daily opening and closing of the Pro Shop, collection of green fees, rental of carts and clubs, sales of range balls and Pro Shop merchandise. Reconciles daily cash reports and bank deposits at the end of each shift. Prepares monetary transactions for armored pickup. Runs errands as required. Performs other duties and assignments as requested for the successful operation of the facility. Works with fellow Pro Shop employees in a team approach to daily operations. Secondary Responsibilities – Golf Professional May teach private, junior and group lessons, clinics and schools as assigned. May manages golf events including outings and tournaments as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Serves in lead capacity for non-exempt Pro Shop staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with City of Golden policies and applicable laws. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred. Must have working knowledge of retail merchandising preferably in a golf environment. Must be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office. Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Minimum two years golf course experience with 1 year supervisory experience. Enrolled in and/or completion of Level I of the PGA/GPTP or completion of LPGA /B certification preferred. Must possess a teaching background in group, private and junior golf instruction. Must have ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret City of Golden policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, citizens and others verbally and in writing. Ability to respond to customer concerns promptly and effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public and other agencies. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's using units of American money. Ability to apply and calculate fractions and percentages to areas pertaining to the successful operation of the business. Ability to complete time sheets. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license with good driving record. Level I of the PGA/GPTP or LPGA B certification preferred. Current CPR/First Aid Certification preferred. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED Personal computer, cash drawer, phones, adding machine, photocopier, golf merchandise, and fax machine. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, exhibit manual dexterity and the ability to handle objects. Must be able to lift 100 pounds assisted and 50 pounds unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is primarily in an indoor setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Important Notes
