CODING HUB AUDITOR
Requisition Number 34922 City Denver Physical Location PAH-MASON HALL Department Name CEN PROF RECEIVABLE Status Full Time Benefits Eligible Yes Hours per Pay Period 80 Shift Days Required Education Associates Degree Required Experience 3 - 5 years Grade OOO Certificate/Licensure Certification Required Responsible for conducting high volumes of E&M provider coding, billing and documentation audits for accuracy of ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II codes, modifiers and charges in a timely and efficient manner and ensures coding compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements. Schedules and/or conducts multiple provider and coder audits at one time. Adapt audit programs to scope, objectives and procedures to be performed for each assignment based on risks associated with regulatory programs. Identifies and determines that the integrity of coding controls and revenue generation is supported by the documentation and escalates issues and provides recommendations accordingly. Prepares audit reports containing adequate evidence to support audit findings and makes recommendations. Provides providers and coders with individualized report results and schedules training and follow-up audits as applicable. Prepares audit reports for coding audit manager's review and approval. Assists with training new providers and coders on accurate coding assignment that is supported by documentation. Participates in decision making concerning policies, procedures as requested. Assists in writing and implementation of new policies and procedures. Works closely with the physician services coding manager, physicians, physician clinics' office staff, hospital staff and coding hub staff. Communicates with physicians and physician clinics' office staff when needed in order to addresses all needs/concerns and in a timely manner. Uses a professional attitude and a high degree of customer service when dealing with all customers and handles stressful situations with professionalism and tact. Coordinates training and auditing activities within the hub department and physician clinics. Participates in quality improvement projects. Partners with other revenue management areas and facilities to achieve resolution. Stays current on coding regulatory requirements to ensure accurate coding assignments. Researches and resolves issues to meet customer needs. Uses problem-solving ability for various levels of issues. Skills / Requirements
Associates degree preferred, Certified CPC, RHIA or RHIT required. Five years of internal audit and coding audit experience in a multi-healthcare setting, to include 3 years in physician services (1500 billing). Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in the principles and practices of coding inclusive of working knowledge of DRG, CPT, ICD-9, APC, AHA Coding Clinic CMS Reimbursement rules. Prefer knowledge of chargemaster, coding products (i.e. 3M encoder and resources) and different medical electronic documentation and billing programs. Excellent written and verbal communications.
Exhibits high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all documentation and correspondence. Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Windows, Excel, PowerPoint and Email.
