Glen Ayr Health Center, located in the heart of Lakewood, Colorado is seeking applications for a dietary cook.

Our skilled nursing care units, specializing in personalized care and environments promoting therapeutic healing in the wake of a hospitalization as well as long term care services are first class. The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and serving food, including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to the facility menu. The cook assists in assuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed.

The Dietary Cook will also:
* Approach all encounters with residents and employees in a friendly service-oriented manner
* Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.
* Comply at all times with Glen Ayr‚s standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient health care operations.
* Arrive at work on time for every shift and in a clean uniform.
* Prepare meals according to shift checklist
* Prepare foods for meals, including modified textures for restricted and therapeutic diets
* Supervise dietary aides in preparation of serving foods and beverages
* Follow instructions of the Food Services Director in the preparation of foods and beverages
* Prepares food by methods that conserve nutritive value and flavor
* Ensures foods are palatable, attractive, and in the proper form to meet the individual needs of the residents.
* Assures that all food items are handled properly to ensure safety and sanitation standards according to State and Federal regulations.
* Properly stores, covers, and refrigerates necessary items. Ensures that foods are cooked to the appropriate temperatures according to FDA Food Code, latest edition.
* Attends in-service education and staff meetings as required
* Practices and supervises infection control policies

The Dietary Cook will have general knowledge of cooking and dietary restrictions/needs, familiarity of long term care residents and one year experience in a long term care or hospital facility or similar environment is preferred. Availability and flexibility on shifts and days scheduled is required. Weekends and holidays will be required. The dietary cook needs to have knowledge of basic concepts of nutrition and diet management and therapeutic diets and the ability to read and understand English.
