About Us SiteWise is Colorado’s premier subsurface utility engineering (SUE), utility locating and hydro-excavation (potholing) firm. SiteWise’s professional staff consist of engineers, SUE technicians, AutoCAD technicians, certified utility locators, experienced hydro and air excavation operators, utility records and coordination specialist. SiteWise’s staff have more than 76 years of combined experience in the locating, mapping of underground utilities and damage prevention. SiteWise is a Denver-based company, owned and managed by nationally recognized facility location and damage prevention experts. SiteWise has a strong ownership and support from their parent company, Kelly Cable Corporation. In addition to the Denver headquarters, SiteWise has a Colorado Springs office. From these locations, SiteWise can serve clients anywhere in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Kansas and beyond, for all their subsurface utility and hydro-excavation needs. All SiteWise subsurface utility technicians are certified per the National Utility Locating Contractors Association (NULCA) standards. SiteWise personnel use the latest geophysical technology tools, and hydro/air-vacuum potholing equipment to perform these subsurface utility engineering services. All of our hydro-excavation technicians are DOT Operator Qualified (OQ certified) and have successfully completed 40 hours of Hazwopper training to handle any type of material and soil conditions.

What is Subsurface Utility Engineering? According to the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Federal Highway Administration, the definition of subsurface utility engineering is: “A branch of engineering practice that manages certain risks associated with subsurface utilities via: utility mapping at appropriate quality levels, utility coordination, utility relocation design and coordination, utility assessment, communication of utility data to concerned parties, utility relocation cost estimates, implementation of utility accommodation policies and utility design.” Essentially, subsurface utility engineering provides accurate information that mitigates the risk of cost overruns and safety issues for underground utilities.
