Blog Post: Networking Globally

The internet has made it so easy to build a global social network. It provides us the opportunity to connect with people all over the world who share the same interests, passions, and business expertise that you have. I recommend that you consider joining an online networking and virtual community. There are literally hundreds out there and new ones being created daily. Be selective and do your homework to find the one that will work for you. Just remember, you will get out of them as much as you put into them. It’s called a network for a reason.

If you want to expand both your personal and professional networks try to spend more than an hour each week reaching out across cities, state lines, and countries to expand your sphere of influence. If you’re proactive and start reaching out globally, you will find there is a much bigger, better, and smarter world waiting to embrace you.

But…here’s the deal. These all take time. You must pick the 1 or 2 social networks that you actually want to invest the time in. I've met many people who have joined every site and then get overwhelmed and give up on expanding their virtual global network completely.

If you only have 1 hour a day to spend on growing your Net Worth by expanding your Network, I would spend 20% of my time with online social networks and the other 80% with people within your sphere of influence (face-to face, emailing, phone calls and sending notes/cards). You have a better chance of growing your access and influence talking to those people and the people they know.
